about us

Habitat Ontario Gateway North is a non-profit housing organization that believes everyone deserves a safe and decent place to live. We mobilize communities to help families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. With the help of volunteers, donors, and community partners, we have built more than 45 homes for families, including over 40 children, in need of safe, decent, and affordable housing across the Ontario Gateway North territory.

The Parry Sound Chapter began in 2010 as the Parry Sound Adopt-A-Home Committee; a group of dedicated local volunteers worked toward the completion of the first community build project on Emily St. in 2013. When territories amalgamated into Habitat for Humanity Ontario Gateway North in 2014, Parry Sound became an official chapter. Since then, our dedicated Parry Sound chapter members have built 3 more homes. We have served 4 families total in the Parry Sound area. In support of this important work, we host three annual fundraising events; the Yard Sale, the Golf Tournament, and the “Hat-Trick” Hockey Raffle.

in memory of

It’s with heavy hearts that the team at Habitat for Humanity Ontario Gateway North announces the passing of Pat Howe on January 3rd, 2023. An avid gardener, dog-lover, and stalwart supporter of Habitat for Humanity, Pat gave many years to support affordable housing in Parry Sound. She was a promoter, organizer, and go-to volunteer for the famous Giant Yard Sale, which raised thousands of dollars for Habitat Build projects in Parry Sound.

Thank you, Pat, for your dedication and belief in a world where everyone deserves a safe and decent place to live.

11th annual giant yard sale & silent auction

The Parry Sound Chapter Yard Sale is our largest event, occurring this year on the Labour Day long weekend: Saturday, September 2nd (8 am-2 pm), Sunday, September 3rd (10am-2pm) and Monday, September 4th (10am-1 pm). The location is Dunn’s Parry Sound Self-Storage. To ensure our Giant Yard Sale continues to flourish, we collect donations of new and gently used items year-round. To donate, contact Ab Fuller at 705-346-2697.
